Alwan Alqaa (أَلوَان القَاع — Colors of the Deep) is a marine environmental awareness initiative rooted in the Libyan coastline. The project called for a brand identity that could translate the urgency of ocean conservation into a visual language as vivid and alive as the sea itself — bold enough to stop people, honest enough to move them.
The challenge was to build a brand that could simultaneously represent the wonder of the sea and the urgency of its protection — without falling into the trap of typical eco-campaign aesthetics. The visual identity needed to resonate with younger Libyan audiences while remaining credible within environmental and scientific circles.
Our approach centered on the concept of "the colors beneath the surface" — the rich, luminous spectrum found in Libya's Mediterranean depths that most people have never seen. By making these colors the brand's core asset, we shifted the campaign from warning to invitation.
The final identity system is built around a chromatic visual language — a palette of deep teals, vibrant corals, and translucent blues that feel both scientifically honest and emotionally alive. The logomark abstracts the silhouette of a marine creature in motion, rendered in a way that works across small digital formats and large-scale campaign installations.
Alwan Alqaa launched with a visual identity that turned heads — and more importantly, turned hearts. The brand became the visual anchor for the initiative's awareness campaign across social media and community events, earning recognition for its departure from conventional environmental design. The project demonstrated that conservation messaging doesn't have to be austere to be serious.
